Dr. Christof Teuscher, Professor
Christof Teuscher is a professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). Dr. Teuscher obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree in computer science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) in 2000 and 2004 respectively.

Niklas Anderson
Niklas Anderson is a student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering MS program, with a focus on computer architecture. He has previously worked in software engineering and web development, and got his first hands-on experience at the command line while volunteering at Free Geek in SE Portland. When not busy with school or work, he enjoys cooking, traveling with friends, long bike rides, and honing his pickleball serve.
Tanay Arora
Tanay is a rising sophomore at Jesuit High. He has been interested in machine learning since he was 9 and has kept up with much of the most prominent research since. Recently, he has taken a deep dive into LLM compression. He enjoys all type of computer science, basketball, Catan, and dal chaval.
Marcus Campbell is an Army Veteran researching neuromorphic computing with an emphasis on scalable, low-power spiking neural network systems. His work focuses on expanding access to physical neuromorphic hardware for real-world applications in defense, healthcare, manufacturing, and edge AI. Marcus is particularly interested in building the foundational infrastructure to support collaborative research and experimentation with neuromorphic technologies.
Edwin Chen is a sophomore at Lincoln High School. He’s interested in programming in general and is versed in a variety of frameworks and libraries. He is also 2000 rated on codeforces and therefore inherited a massive ego(jk). He doesn’t have a phone and never uses social media, and his favorite hobby is programming.
Haranadh Chintapalli is a continuing grad student at PSU pursuing PhD in ECE. After finishing MS from PSU, He has gained industrial knowledge and is experienced in a wide range of skills in Hardware Design, driving with passion towards research in Artificial Intelligence. He did his Bachelors from NIT Calicut in ECE. He loves to explore new places, tasting different food, playing chess and cricket, and is interested in the concept of Mind Palace.
Crow is a graduate student at Portland State University pursuing his MS in ECE. His professional background is in edible landscaping having spent years in the field pruning fruit trees, grape vines, and berries of all sorts. He previously attended the University of Arizona and earned a BA with double major in Poetry and Religious Studies. His goal is to find solutions to agricultural challenges and food insecurity through his research. He spends as much time as he can in the garden, outdoors, or around a fire.
Byron Gregg (right in photo) is an Design Automation Engineer for Intel and a continuing Graduate student at Portland State pursuing a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Byron’s professional background has included 8 years working in Semiconductor Fabrication, Fault Isolation, Failure Analysis, Automation, and most recently DFT Design Methodology (all at Intel). Byron previously attended PSU 2018-2019, completing his MS in ECE focusing on Digital IC Design, Test, and Validation. Over the years, Byron has maintained a wide breadth of interest in various STEM topics. These include Machine Learning, Quantum Computing, Computer Architecture, Adiabatic Computing, Thermodynamic Computing, Semi-Conductor Device Fabrication, Superconductivity, and more. In his free time, Byron likes to travel with his family, read, and play guitar.
Eleanor Hall
Eleanor Hall is a rising junior at the Catlin Gabel School. She has always had a vested interest in social inequalities, and is hopeful for a future where they could be combated with new technologies and AI. She loves fashion and being outdoors, whether playing sports or simply enjoying the PNW.
Kaj Hansteen Izora is a Senior attending Portland State University studying Social Science and Data Science. He is passionate about applying a multi-disciplinary approach to complex social problems and building machine learning and AI applications. In his spare time, he enjoys playing music and photography.
Aparna Kamath
Aparna Kamath is a rising freshman who will be attending Westview High School. She is interested in the intersection of computer science and medicine. In her free time, she likes to swim, read, play piano and do karate.
Tucker Mastin
Tucker is an Electrical and Computer Engineering Graduate student. After obtaining undergraduate degrees in Applied Physics and Computer Science, he gained industry experience in semiconductor manufacturing before joining a patent law firm as a scientific / technical consultant. His research interests lie in complex, emergent dynamics found at the intersection of computational neuroscience, statistical mechanics, and neuromorphic computing. Outside of school and work, Tucker can be found playing upright bass in various bands and hanging out with his wife and their big orange cat.
Kieran McKenna is an undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. His research interests are in biomolecular computing, neuromorphic computing, and biomimetic robotics.
Silas McNeal
Silas is a rising Junior at Baker Early College High School. He is passionate about learning more in the fields of Computer Science, Math, Computer Engineering, and Neuromorphic computing. Silas plans to double major Computer Science and ECE at Portland State University. Outside of school he enjoys playing with his dogs, reading, playing video games, and sleeping.
Sai Siddharth Nalamalpu
Siddharth Nalamalpu is a junior at Sunset High School. Siddharth is committed to leveraging cutting-edge technologies like machine learning and historical insights to create a positive global impact. Outside of academics, Siddharth enjoys biking, playing cricket, and writing poetry.
Maxann Neiger
Maxann Neiger is an undergrad double-majoring in Computer Science and Mathematics at Oberlin College in Ohio, also taking courses in Classics. She is especially interested in Cryptography, which combines pure mathematics and computer algorithms. In her spare time, Maxann enjoys reading and playing board and video games. When in Portland, Maxann lives with her family, including her two cats.
Angelina Patterson
Angelina Patterson is an undergraduate student at Portland State University, pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering. Her interests lie in biomedical engineering, and she has gained experience in biochemistry and biology labs, which have contributed to her understanding of the field. She seeks to expand her skills and understanding of biomedical engineering by applying her major.
Deejay Santomin
Deejay Santomin is an undergraduate Electrical Engineering student at Portland State University with interests in sustainable infrastructure, community-driven design, and applied research. He is passionate about using engineering to create practical, impactful solutions for local communities back on his home island of Saipan. Outside of academics, Deejay enjoys videography and photography, where he explores storytelling through visual media.
Kristi Rahman
Kristi completed her B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) from Bangladesh University Of Engineering and technology (BUET) in April 2019 and joined Siemens Industrial Limited as a Design Engineer. She completed her MS in ECE from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in 2023. Currently, she is a member of the teuscher.:Lab at Portland State University and pursuing her PhD degree in ECE from Fall’24.
Anne-Caroline (Annie) Rupp
Anne-Caroline (Annie) Rupp is an undergraduate student at Portland State University, where they are studying Mathematics and Computer Science. Their research interests focus on formal mathematical proof methods in the field of Theoretical Computer Science regarding Computation Complexity, Graph Theory, and Matrix Algebra.
Matthew Tubbin
Matthew Tubbin is an undergraduate Electrical Engineering student at Portland State University with interests in microcontrollers, PCB design, and programming. He is currently gaining hands-on experience through undergraduate research and looks forward to growing his skills in both hardware and software design. In his free time, he enjoys walking his dogs, watching movies, and riding dirt bikes.
Betty Wu-Zhen
Betty Wu-Zhen is an undergraduate at Portland State University, pursuing a BS in Biochemistry with a Pre-Medical Laboratory Scientist Track. She has some experience working in wet labs and is interested in pursuing a career in the medical field. Betty likes to keep an open mind and acquire new skills that may be useful in the future, including computer programming. She enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with friends.
